Y : Kok bisa dibalap sama adiknya itu gmn?
X : Oh, Gema anak ke-2 ya. Lho, berarti Bunga dilangkahin dong.
Which one is the polite and positive comment? I guess almost everyone will agree Z comment is the answer. Considering my bicultural family background, i have to deal with various kinds of comments regarding to "being skipped by the young one" issue. I'm completely "sober" that the Javanese tend to disagree about the young ones getting married before the older ones. Moreover, if the young ones are men and the older ones are vice versa, the issue is undoubtedly even bigger. I've anticipated this situation since long long time ago and decided to be a silent person if anyone ever asked me that. It worked. I was merely smiling when anyone commenting this and that related to the issue. They never asked further questions after facing my zipped mouth.
The thing that i want to highlight is why would [most of] the Javanese do that? Is it even important to "hurt" people that way? Well, i'm not even sure that they are consider it as a torment, though. I guess it's just the nature of the Javanese. I always try my best to understand and be patient to them. I'm half of them as well, although my mother always tells people that only my face is Javanese while the rests of me are Bornean [Xixixi, including the jutek and straightforward personalities of mine]. The good thing is i have another 50% of Bornean blood running in my DNA. The Bornean tend to "give no s**t" to this kind of issue. The ones who firstly met their soulmates can get married first, no matter on which sequence of siblings they are, that's what they always thought. But hey, no matter what, i'm grateful for the diversity of my family. Always grateful....very grateful....
