What a Week...!

Wow...such a bloody hectic week i had!
Let's do a little flashback. Had MUKTAMAR FORMMIT on 21-22 March, then being picked as "the most beautiful" Dewan Formatur^^ (*well..well...well...trapped in the BOY ZONE was all i had). It's not like i didn't know how hectic it will be. I mean, having only 7x24 hours to think, discuss and arrange the new FORMMIT's structure, staff, etc etc....surely enough to predict my next-7-days-will-be. Yet, i didn't refuse nor complain about it, not a single word. Means ? Bunga is no longer a complainer. Hehehe.
Now i know how does it feel. I'm...BLOODY TIRED^^. Anyhow, i realized one thing. That i'm not so bad NEGOTIATOR (*tried to be full of myself...but failed ;p). Well, someone said, negotiate with people is not an easy thing. Still more, asking people to sit or put themselves in a particular position to run non-profit organization, means they will not get paid, hmmm...more difficult. I think it counterparts with touching someone's heart (*sounds like Yamaha tagline^^). It happens that i have that kinda "secret weapon"^^. Hohoho.
All in all, i just want to say that i end up as Head of Media Bureau in FORMMIT. Yoshiiii, GANBARIMAAASU :)!!! Ehmm...having someone's promise in my hand (*Wijayanto BS...you typed "BANYAK JUGA GAPAPA". Hahaha...help me out, OK^^?), i'll do my best shot in this new amanah. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim...

Thank you Allah...

Subhanalloh...i'm so thankful, Allah...for giving me the chance to enjoy more of my roles in this what so called da'wah ground.
I remember one of my friend once said that "If you want to feel "the soul of da'wah"...jump yourself into the da'wah's zone. Do it all out. The more you play your role there, the more you'll feel the beauty of da'wah". She's right, of course^^. I feel that i'm so into it right now. Before, i felt like i was way too wishy-washy...and rather do it half-heartedly. Maybe it's because i never felt that my skills-abilities-specialties-etc-etc were "used" nor "utilized" as much as it's needed. Or maybe...before, i were the one who pulled back myself from the "main stream". Well, yeah....
I'll just put this links as my reminders (1, 2, 3)^^. ALLAHU AKBAR !

PS : i like this sayings
"Allah loves us exactly the way we need to be loved. And through this love, He gives gifts that are truly unique. Something that is suitable for person and that person only. Its a reflection of how well He knows us and what we need. Sometimes that gift is something we have longed for; sometimes that gift is unexpected favour".

Scientists Want DNA Tests on Galileo for Eye Test

On the last Scientific Writing lesson, Prof. Ku gave "making memo" as an assignment. The topic was the same as this post title. Here's the problem :
Scientists want DNA tests on Galileo for “eye test”
Italian and British Scientists want to exhume the body of 16th century astronomer Galileo for DNA test to determine if his severe vision problems may have affected some of his findings. Galileo, whom the Vatican condemned for teaching that the earth revolves around the sun, is known to have had intermittent eye problems for the second half of his life and was totally blind for his last to years. One of the ‘errors’ that Galileo made, which Galluzi suspect may have been attributed to his bad eyesight, is that he believed Saturn was not perfectly round but may have had an irregular, inflated side. He might have mistaken Saturn’s gaseous ring to surmise that it was formed of one planet two moons as satellites. ‘If we knew exactly what was wrong with his eyes we could use computer models to recreate what he saw in his telescope’ said Paolo Galluzi, director of the Museum of History and Science in Florence, the city where Galileo is buried.
So, Prof. Ku asked us to make a memo to Paolo Galluzi to tell him about our opinion regarding to the Galileo's body exhuming. But before that, we have to know how to make an effective memo, so that our writings can be fully understood by the memo recipient. I found a good article about writing an effective professional memo (*here). While browsing an article about memo making, i found that this topic is actually very new and just came up recently. Wow^^. Then, i ended up gathering some articles about Galileo-DNA Tests-Body Exhuming as follows :
  1. Researchers Want to DNA Test Galileo's Eyes
  2. Scientists to test DNA to find out if Galileo could really see stars
  3. DNA Testing on Galileo To Uncover Sight Problem
  4. Scientists want DNA tests on Galileo for "eye test"
  5. Scientists Want To Test Galileo’s DNA For Eye Conditions
  6. Should Galileo's tomb be opened for DNA tests?
  7. Galileo’s body to be exhumed for DNA testing
Interesting^^. And btw, for my memo making assignment, i wrote that i'm agree with Paolo Galluzi to exhume Galileo's body and conduct DNA Tests. Because i think yeah, we will be able to get the truth whether Galileo's findings are actually correct or not. Exhuming Galileo's body, yes it sounds disrespectful (*and it's been more that 300 years after his death). But doing this for the sake of the science and to unveil the truth...WHY NOT ?

Pasta With Yogurt Sauce

Today's Theory and Application of Health Foods happens to be a cooking class. Hehehe. Because last week, we made yogurt...So, today, we try to make something using yogurt as an additional ingredients. And (*as i guessed), we make the easiest dish which is...PASTA^^. Hohoho. And btw, Prof. Chiou is very nice. He bought the beef only for me and Wahid. While the others...pork, of course. And btw (*again ;p), i'm a little bit surprised when he was accompanied us the whole course time. Considering he's the Dean of Life Science who never really has "free time". Well, it happens that today he has no meeting to be attended^^.
Here's the ingredients' listing (*use your own imagination to decide the ingredients' amounts ;)) :
  1. chopped beef
  2. sliced mushrooms
  3. diced onions
  4. mushroom sauce
  5. corn starch
  6. salt
  7. sugar
  8. black peppers
  9. cooking oil
  10. yogurt
  11. simmered pasta and macaroni
(*no. 1-10 : for pasta sauce)
Cooking instructions :
  1. Stir-fry the beef along with the mushrooms and onions (*with one teaspoon of cooking oil)
  2. Add mushroom sauce
  3. Pour the diluted corn starch
  4. Add some sugar, salt and black peppers
  5. Stir until the sauce quite viscous (*pour more diluted corn starch to increase the sauce viscosity)
  6. Cool it down and put the yogurt in
Errr..but actually, because today me and Wahid are fasting, we couldn't taste the sauce at the first place. So, May (*our classmate) helps us taste it. And, it happens that May's taste and ours are...DIFFERENT. The sauce was too sour (*T-T). Hahaha...
Here's some pictures :
stir frying the sauce ingredients
put the yogurt in
yogurt sauce...completed^^
simmered pasta and macaroni
ready to eat pasta with yogurt sauce (*not as yummy as you think^^)

Liver - Nervous Systems

Another interesting topic came up from the Food Biotechnology course :
"What's gonna happen if our liver has nervous systems ?"
Before answer it, let's find out the roles of the liver in our body :
1. store the iron reserves as we need, as well as a lot of vitamins and other minerals.
2. make bile to help digest the food.
3. detoxify poisonous chemicals, and that includes alcohol, beer, wine and drugs (prescribed and over-the-counter) as well as illegal substance.
4. store energy, like a battery, by stockpiling sugar (carbohydrates, glucose and fat) until we need.
5. make the blood that got to our system going even before we were born.
6. manufacture new proteins that our body needs to stay healthy and grow.
7. remove poisons from the air, exhaust smoke and chemicals we breathe.
8. make clotting factors that stop the bleeding when we accidentally prick our self.
9. help defend against the germs going into our body all the time. It takes those cold germs, flu bugs and other germs we encounter, and knock them dead - or at least weaken them.
For the complete one, see here.

Well, i couldn't agree more with Prof. Chiou when he said, "We will feel painful all the time...for the rest of our life, if we do have nervous systems in our liver". EXACTLY. Can we guarantied that our intakes (*foods, drinks...anything) are free from chemicals, preservatives, microbes, etc...etc which are harmful to our body ? No, right ?! That's why if we have nervous systems in our liver, which has the main function to detoxify the harmful substances enter our body, we will never free from the pain. Ouchhh...(*just think about it makes me got goosebumps).

New Chinese Laoshi

Actually, i wanted to post this since the first time i had her as my new Chinese Laoshi. But...well...yeah...iro2 things happened^^.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY LIKE my new Laoshi. Her teaching syllabus is so clear. She's very dedicated. She has a "passion" in teaching (*i can feel it, really). And she has "an aura" to tell us doing something without we feel that we've being forced. Cool, huh^^ ? Yes, she is. And...lately, i heard from xiao laoshi (read : teaching assistant), that Qiu Laoshi was once became a Chinese teacher in Harvard University. Exactly..."that" HARVARD. OMG...no wonder she's so...AWESOME^^. Thank you Alloh for giving me another "light" in this semester. I promise i'll learn Chinese even harder^^.

Money Management...

Today...i met a friend in Taichung. Although i was mistakenly recognized him as a worker (*instead of a student), he's not mad at all. Huhuhuuuu...but still, i was SOOOO EMBARRASSED...that i wanted to drown myself in the depth of the sea (T-T). Having a small talks with him...i just knew that the scholarships in Asia University is (only) 3000 NTD. OMG (*i'd rather turned down the scholarships's offer since the first time if i were him). But, surprisingly, he's able to SAVE MONEY and live happily with that amount of money. Subhanallooohhhh. Then, i keep wondering...WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME ? WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY MONEY MANAGEMENT ? WHY I ALWAYS BECOME THE SPEND-THRIFT ONE ? *Sigh*....
Referring to one of the article about money management here....i knew that i have to start learning about this kinda stuff...before it's too late. Hihihi...^^

Tips for Better Money Management

Once you’ve decided what organizational system will work best for managing your money, keep in a mind a few basic tips that will help you make smart financial decisions.
  • Understand where your money is going. When they look at their monthly bills, many people are shocked by the amount of money they spend on bank fees, cell phone service charges, and other expenses they don’t really understand. If you don’t know the purpose of a particular fee, call the company and ask if there is anything you can do to have the charge removed.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. For example, if you receive a bill from your doctor’s office that you think your health insurance should have paid, call the office and ask them to explain the charges. Mistakes are more common than you might think and it’s your job to catch these errors.
  • Develop a good filing system for receipts and other important papers. Staying organized and avoiding the hassle of misplaced paperwork can often save you big bucks. For example, if your new refrigerator breaks while it’s still under warranty, you’ll probably need the receipt to get it fixed.
  • Make comparison shopping a priority. Although most people will take the time to evaluate their options when buying cars and other big-ticket items, many people overlook the importance of comparison shopping on a day-to-day basis. Shopping around for the best deal is a great way to cut costs on everything from cleaning supplies to printer ink.
  • Remember that even a small savings can help you get your finances under control. If you’re battling massive credit card debt, taking the time to clip coupons to save $10 or $20 on your grocery bill is a smart idea. Even though that extra cash may not look like much, it’s enough to put you on the path to financial freedom.

Mei2 you3 cian2...sucks

Now i know how does it feel to be the poor one. Hehehe. Having only coins in my purse...whereas i need to spend money to buy a bunch of important stuff...surely sucks. I'm on the pinch. But still, i don't want to ask my parents' money to cover my needs. That's my promise to myself.
But TODAY...(FINALLY!) the scholarship's money had already transferred to my account. Whuaaaaa....not only me....all Lantan, Linsen and Minsyong gals were burst happiness tears after heard that the scholarships' money had been transferred (*i'm not exaggerating here^^). Hihihi. I really don't understand, actually. Last month expenditures, were the WORST ever. Even for my friends. Well, maybe it's all caused by the health insurance fees which we must paid for. Yeah, for me, this things happened were very funny. We were stony broke...at the same time:).
So, the most important thing i can take from this "incident" is...TRY TO SAVE MORE MONEY^^. Hehehe. Yeah, because i remember my parents always say that i am too spend-thrift. Well, OK then, i'll be as skimpy as i can. GANBATTE, Bung^^!
Off the record :
Suddenly remember that today, Li Huei (*after knowing that i'm on the pinch), offered herself as a loaner. She said : "Bunga, you can borrow my money. I have a lot of money on my account". Wahahahaaaa...SHINJIRARENAI! Though known as a crazy-shopper, she's still able to save money. OMG...this is the first time Li Huei can beat me. Hihihi...
